- Exciting Opportunity for Surgical First Assistant (Band 6) - In Colchester General Hospital
MedicsPro are seeking experienced Surgical First Assistant's - Band 6 with recent NHS experience, who are looking for flexible extra shifts or full-time agency work within the Colchester Area.
This opportunity is to cover Monday - Friday, day shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Intraoperative Assistance: Assist the surgeon during procedures by holding open incisions, manipulating tissue, controlling bleeding, suturing, and closing wounds layer by layer according to the surgeon's preferences. Insert trocars for minimally invasive surgery, place wound drains, and operate specialized equipment while maintaining a sterile field and adhering to aseptic techniques.
* Preoperative Duties: help prepare the operating room by ensuring instruments and equipment are sterilized and arranged according to the surgeon's needs. They assist in patient positioning to provide optimal access to the surgical site.
* Postoperative Care: After surgery, SFAs apply dressings, assist in transferring patients to recovery areas, and monitor for immediate postoperative complications
* Team Coordination: communicate the surgeon's needs to the rest of the operating room team, including anesthesiologists, nurses, and surgical technologists, ensuring smooth workflow and efficiency.
